Portrait of Britain Winner - 2022

Incredibly proud to share that my portrait of Rebecca Hayes from Victoria Park Vixens FC has been selected as one of the winning photographs in this years Portrait of Britain competition.

The portrait will on display in the largest exhibition of its kind on hundreds of JCDeceaux screens across the UK as well as featuring in the accompanying book published by Hoxton Mini Press on sale here

The Victoria Park Vixens team epitomise what it is to be part of the grassroots football scene in London. They’re fun, friendly and passionate about playing football. I got to know the squad between lockdowns and spent a few months following them from late 2020 to early 2021. It was a time when we appreciated just how much sport plays a vital role in our everyday lives for our physical health, the socials with friends, having a laugh and connecting with the wider community.

Photographed at first light on a cold, crisp morning Rebecca has an elegant coolness to her.

She’s strong, calm yet kick-ass! 

Across the whole month of January in 2023 the exhibition of 99 winning portraits will be on display across hundreds of sites in the UK. From shopping centres, at rail and bus stations, on OOH advertising display screens across towns and cities including the beautiful architecture at London Bridge station.

Around 18 million people will see the exhibition which features in areas including Ashford, Aylesbury, Banbury, Barking, Basildon, Battersea, Bedford, Brighton, Beckenham, Berkhamsted, Bicester, across Birmingham, Bristol, Cambridge, Cardiff, Chelsea, Clapham, Colchester, Derby, Durham, Ealing, Eastbourne, Epsom, Edinburgh, Finchley, Fulham, Glasgow, Guildford, Harpenden, Hatfield. Highbury, Ipswich, Islington, Kensington, Kingston, Knightsbridge, Leicester, Lewisham, Liverpool, all across London, Luton, Leeds, Manchester, Milton Keynes, Norwich, Newcastle, Nottingham, Northampton, Reading, Oxford, Redhill, Sheffield, Sevenoaks, Southend, St Albans, Twickenham, Tonbridge, Peterborough, Wakefield, Worthing and York… to name but a few!
